Who has time to plan a unique date? You’re shopping, planning a social life, working your hineys off, caring for family or friends, managing home stuff… isn’t that enough? It is. So we’re helping you out with a list of seven cool date ideas in DFW.

Date Night Ideas in DFW: Quick Navigation

1. Book a night at the Belmont.

Pretend you’re a hip 1960’s couple checking into a resort that’s Dirty Dancing-worthy. The mod architecture, decor and vibe will get you in the mood for a dirty martini at the jazzy onsite lounge. For dinner, walk nextdoor to SMOKE and gorge on the BBQ Board (a little of everything).

Buy some of the thick, smoky bacon to take home with you. Back at the Belmont, grab some coats, a blanket and your favorite beverage and sit on the lawn, overlooking the Dallas skyline.

Date Night Tip: Have a bottle of champagne or wine waiting in the room.

2. Get some class. Or take one, anyway.

It’s an adventure and can be a bonding experience to learn something new as a couple. Central Market offers cooking classes in multiple locations throughout the metroplex.  You’ll spend a few hours (wine in hand, if desired, is an included part of the experience) learning techniques and recipes to work your way through a 3-4 course specialty menu. The icing on the cake—you get to dine on the results!

The Dallas Center for Photography offers evening classes for busy Dallasites wanting to hone their shutterbug skills. Get creative together and enjoy learning some new techniques to capture your memories together. Whatever your interests, there’s a class in DFW that you can enjoy together.

3. Hang out at the Dallas Public Library.

Yes, seriously. The library is open until 8pm Tue-Thurs and has a vast amount of charm for a date night. The different library branches host events, book clubs, readings and art exhibits. Even on “normal” days, you can peruse the resources there to research the home you live in, dig into facts about places that are meaningful to you, or learn more about each other’s family history. Check out books you think each other would like, with the assignment of reading them and rating each other’s picks when you return them to the library.

4. Sweat it out.

The Russian Banya is located in a strip mall in Carrollton. Don’t let that deter you! Though it might take a little bravery to walk through the door, it will be worth it. $25 a person gets you unlimited access to several types of saunas that you can chill out in at your leisure. In between sauna sessions, there’s a pool table and board games to enjoy while you unwind together. An onsite deli provides Russian snacks, deli treats and beverages. It’s simple, it’s sweaty, and it’s SO relaxing. For an extra fee, you can add a massage, complete with a light beating via a bunch of dried branches to help remove all of those nasty toxins. If you’re really feeling frisky, take the naked plunge into a giant tub of ice water to seal your pores before you re-dress and head home.

5. Take a romantic gondola ride.

Cuddle together as you listen to charming songs from your Gondolier and ease through the beautiful scenes of Mandalay Canal and Lake Carolyn in Las Colinas. Gondola rides in Texas might not be QUITE the same as those in Venice, but the opportunity for romance is yours. A dinner cruise will have you watching the sunset together while you dine on a 3-course meal and sail the waters of Las Colinas on your 2-hour date. Cider is the only drink that’s provided, so if you’re wanting wine – bring the bottle of your choice.

6. Taste your way through Uptown.

Packaged for your convenience, the Uptown Dallas Food Tour lasts for 4 hours and includes a guided tour and tastings while stopping in at least 5 restaurants in this neighborhood. In addition, the tour guides you through leisurely visits to some of Uptown’s main historic attractions. If you’re over 21 and want to imbibe, it’s easy to add on an alcohol pairing to each location’s tasting menu. The tour is offered by Cloud 9 Living, where you can find many other unique date ideas.

7. Get cozy in Ft. Worth.

During the holidays, the Shops at Chisolm Trail are offering FREE carriage rides. Put on your warm, wool sweaters and heavy coats (if it’s not one of our 70-degree Texas days in December), and bundle up in a magical carriage. Once you’re finished enjoying the ride, turn the corner for dinner at Press Cafe. Enjoy your modern casual meal while soaking in the outstanding views and soft, warm ambience created by the outdoor seating and gas lamps.

It’s not easy, but we hope you’ll find some time to treat yourself and your date to some special memories!
